Photographers and websites

I am at a fellow photog's house helping him work on his website. These days anymore, you not only have to know how to take the pictures, but have the skills to get them up for everyone to see. You are your own marketer and webmaster... Or you just keep friends around who know what you don't!

Happy 4th of July

July4th7355

That's a big picture!! Hope you didn't have to wait too long for that to load. Anyway, I got a chance to spend the 4th with awesome friends, delicious food (MB I believe you are the Queen when it comes to decadent dishes), and a huge crowd of 100's of people all trying to set off their own fireworks. It was the fireworks display in Lake Helen. I was told it was 18min long, but I was trying my hand at shooting the fireworks so the time flew by.

I will give myself a C+ for fireworks photography on my first attempt. It was fun and exciting and I will certainly have another go at it. What I do like about the photos I ended up with was the lake, mainly the reflections, and the silhouette of the home and trees on the point.

Here are a few more shots I liked from the set. Click on them for full size views. Thanks to everyone who chilled by the lake yesterday!

I shot the 8th Dublife event held at Club Firestone in Orlando, FL. I am good friends with DJ RedCoat of the Haunted Audio Conspiracy ( bald guy in the 4th box ). Good time as always, couldn't hear sh!t the rest of the night (as always), and I am looking forward to the next one.

Gallery added to the website, hit it here.

Big thanks to RedCoat and MC Collaborator! The RedBull and Vodka's hit the spot!

Laughter: Thank you George

Lara0357George Carlin Dies at 71

So the great George Carlin left us last night. I always enjoyed his stand up, he was always trying to show us how to take an honest look at our society, his views on religion had me willing to join the Church of Carlin, and his rant on advertising couldn't have been more true.

What I admire the most about comedians is the ability to make us laugh. My dad always made us laugh, and his father was the same. It's in the Carmody blood, laughter is how we love, how we relate, how we cope, how we heal. Alan Watts always talked about laughter as a truly spiritual gift, and act of divinity. It arises out of spontaneity, out of a thoughtless reaction to the moment. It's Zen. If you explain the joke, it's not funny, you must arrive at the absurdity in an instant, or it's gone. Laughter is the same in any language on any continent in any county.

George always made me laugh, so I thank him for his life, his views of the world, and spreading the gift of laughter with so many.

I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death. -George Carlin

Here are some George Carlin quotes for some of my friends & family:

Lara:
Some national parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations. When you have to wait a year to sleep next to a tree, something is wrong.

Sandy:
It's never just a game when you're winning.

Kolla (& Scott):
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

My Mother:
Weather forecast for tonight: dark. Continued dark overnight, with widely scattered light by morning.

Piers:
As a matter of principle, I never attend the first annual anything.
